The Pilot Vanishing Point in Matte Black

Today’s post is a very, very exciting post! Recently I purchased the ever beloved Pilot Vanishing Point. Here’s some of my thoughts on it after using it for roughly a month now.

Up front I’ll be honest that this point that this post is not sponsored, and this pen was not sent to me, but it was purchased thanks to affiliate credit via Atlas Stationers (affiliate link). I don’t believe this has changed my opinion of the pen at all, but I wanted to disclaim that right off the bat in case you’re not into posts with any link to that :)

Anyways, unboxing the pen was a delight - I think I was agape taking it out of the box. The tactile snappiness of opening the box was surprising, and the pen was nicely snug in it’s resting spot. I was surprised that the ‘pillow’ the pen was resting on was flocked plastic, but honestly I didn’t care very much about that. The pen is equally form and function, that lessening the expense of the packaging is something I can appreciate.

Right off the bat there’s a little sticker that slipped onto the pen clip, but worry not, the sticker was only to itself and not to the pen. I chose to go with fine so my writing wouldn’t seem too wobbly, as I have an extra fine Pilot Kakuno and that is sharp - every shake is definitely noticeable.

The nib is delightfully tiny, and very smooth.

You can check out a photo still of my 2024 Take A Note spread, and a writing sample video using the pen. I adore this pen so much, and it’s made a spot permanently in my little Galen Leather case.
