Sailor - Sei Boku
Sei Boku is a pigment ink, meaning that it has more waterproof properties than the dye inks that the majority of fountain pen inks are (though nothing compared to iron gall, though that’s a conversation for another post). Compared to a dye fountain pen ink, pigment inks are more difficult to maintain - especially if you’re looking for something low maintenance.
Pigment inks can dry out and clog your pens. It’s important to flush and clean your pens out I’d say fairly regularly, especially if you aren’t using the pen often enough. However, Sei Boku is just such a beautiful ink to me that I have a dedicated inexpensive Jinhao pen just for this ink.
Here’s some examples of writing with the ink in my Jinhao 82, as well as a small comparison with some of my other favourite blue inks (not trying to find comparable shades, just favourites at the moment.
