Robert Oster - Claret

Today’s fountain pen ink is another from the Australian brand, Robert Oster.

Let’s get into it.

Claret is a really pretty berry wine colour. There’s sort of peeks of sheening here in these swatches - a sort of bronze colour (though I wouldn’t say it’s a feature of the ink). In these large swatches and pools of ink, there is some lovely shading, especially on the Tomoe River and even the Claret. I think the warmth of the Tomoe River paper also is a nice extra touch.

However, as you’ll see in the writing examples below, shading didn’t really show in the glass pen example (and that’s my thicker nibbed glass pen). I didn’t expect it to show in the extra fine nib - I’ll have to edit this post later when I have a large writing sample with a larger nib to take a look at the shading.

Just for the record, since the colour is something like wine, I’m throwing it in the red and magenta categories (because I’m unsure if it belongs in red or magenta).
