Kyo Iro - Stone Road of Gion

An unexpected winner of a brown ink, for me 🤔

(Kyo Iro - Stone Road of Gion, swatched on a Col-O-Ring swatch card (design is a Yoseka Stationery stamp).

When I initially swatched Stone Road of Gion, I didn’t think that I would fall in love with it. The ink is a fairly neutral brown, though I would personally say it leans to the warmer side (but only by a smidge). The large swatches dried and kind of looked like it was congealing. I’ve only swatched one other Kyo Iro ink, but it also dried similarly. I’m not sure what’s in the ink that makes it do that, but I do find it kind of funny, lol.

I think this was a slow burning love - I needed to ink a pen with it to truly get to know it and appreciate it. As you can see in the writing sample, the shading is immaculate. This was with me writing relatively fast and loose. In my planner I wrote with smaller cursive that was a bit slower, and the shading was even more prominent.
