My favourite black fountain pen ink I currently own - this is Roaring Patina Black from Ferris Wheel Press, a limited edition colour from 2022. It’s a gorgeous, deep black colour with a blue base, featuring red sheen and gold shimmer.

Let’s get into it.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I was initially going to like this ink - I almost passed up on it because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get black inks (after all, I was going from my normal Frixion and Muji pens to fountain pens). My partner knew how much I love art deco though, and as soon as I saw the swatch in person at the store and went “oooh”, he bought it for me. I’m happy he did - the ink is gorgeous. It feels like a very business ink from one angle, but as soon as the light hits and you see the shimmer and sheen it puts a smile on my face.
