Troublemaker Inks - Abalone

A photo of the bottle of fountain pen ink 'Abalone' from the brand Toublemaker, in front of the packaging box.

Another beautiful ink today! The fountain pen ink for today is Abalone from Troublemaker Inks.

Let’s get into it.

Troublemaker Inks is a brand from the Philippines, and this bottle has their cute bear iconography. This fountain pen ink is a multishading (or dual shading) ink. It’s a soft light to medium blue - similar to denim. The shading comes out in sort of purple, sometimes pink colour. The shading even shows on Kokuyo and Rhodia paper, which I’m thrilled to see.

I’ve recently inked it up in my Kaweco sport fountain pen with a <BB> nib. I’ve added it to my newest ink journal, which is a tiny Midori notebook with the grid.

Personally I’ve really enjoyed it! I’ve heard others have had difficulty with multishaders being dry, or having hard starts, but I haven’t personally had any issues. It might be the large nib helping me out, but I am loving this ink. I actually thought Milky Ocean was my favourite of my initial trio of Troublemaker Inks, but Abalone is so gorgeous.
