Ferris Wheel Press - Little Robinia
The fountain pen ink for this post is Little Robinia from Ferris Wheel Press, which is one of their standard inks. It’s a beautiful lilac/lavender shade of purple, with a bit of blue and pink multishading in really big pools on Tomoe River paper.
I’ve previously filled my Kaweco Sport in a double broad <BB> nib with this ink - I definitely wouldn’t put it in anything thinner, as even my eyes admittedly had a bit of trouble seeing the ink. It’s a gorgeous colour though, and the shading is crazy in printing. You can see it in the example from my Instagram during Ayachan’s 30 Days of First Lines challenge for 2023.
I don’t think I’ve seen many mention the multishading aspect of the ink, though the ink is definitely not as popular as some of Ferris Wheel Press’ other colours (I’d likely point to the paleness of the ink). I think it’s pretty unique though, and definitely makes the ink more interesting and deserving of a spot in my collection.
I’d say this is a perfect ink for lilac lovers, who want a little bit of that multishading, and who both write with huge nibs and like to use fountain pen ink for painting.
Here’s another ink swatch and writing sample, this time in a small Midori notebook with their grid paper. I’ve written a little bit from Alice in Wonderland By Lewis Carroll with a Kaweco Sport using a <BB> nib.
While a pale ink, I do think the Midori paper (that’s a little more creamy and yellow) does make the ink much more legible.
