Diamine - Fortunes Gold | Inkvent 2023

Welcome to this year’s annual Hunger Games - I mean, Diamine Inkvent calendar! It’s starting off with a shimmery bang, with a chameleon ink named Fortunes Gold.

Let’s get into it.

This year is my first pre-ordering the Inkvent Calender, and joining in on the fun and excitement live on social media. I purchased last year’s calendar months later at sort of a discount since it was older. Opening all the inks was a lot of fun - and it was my first advent calendar in general!

Fortunes Gold is a great ink to start the calendar off with. It’s a bright, rich gold colour that sports a chameleon ink - it seems slightly gold from the front, but at various angles it shifts to this a sort of blue-teal colour. There’s a close-up further in this post.

Here’s a close up, angled photo of the Tomoe River sample. The chameleon shimmer has a gold tint from the from, but colour shifts to this lovely teal colour.

Along with the shimmer, there’s also a lot of shading to the ink, so it’s a well-rounded first one for us to start with!

I also love that it’s dark enough to be legible. It kind of reminds me of those gel pens that many of us had as kids.

Here’s a writing example using a Kaweco Sport with a <BB> nib, to accommodate for the shimmer. Despite the golden colour, the ink is quite legible. It’s not really a colour that I’ll likely use day to day, but it was delightful to swatch and see in use.
