Diamine - Bah Humbug | Inkvent 2023
Bah Humbug - great name - is a wine red fountain pen ink. It features chameleon shimmer, which means it’s a colour shifting shimmer depending on the lighting and angle you look at it. The shimmer is predominantly a cranberry heavily leaning to the pink side, and when seen at a different angle is a beautiful golden shimmer.
The ink also features a sort of greenish sheen around it - I think the colour reminds me of a rose stem that’s kind of on it’s way out. That yellow-ish green colour. I’ve become not very fond of this mixture, I think because it reminds me of dying roses. Because of that, I reeeeaally like the ink on the Kokuyo paper the most, where the sheen is not very present. The ink with the shimmer is just so gorgeous, just layers of red and that pink cranberry and a little surprise of gold.
Here’s the shimmer up close at an angle, so you can see the difference from the previous photos. While the previous photos show off the cranberry pink shimmer, at an angle it presents as gold. I’d say within my collection I find it similar to Ferris Wheel Press Ruby Royal Flush, though that ink is a much brighter red. The FWP ink only has the one colour of shimmer, and I find it much more dry compared to this ink. Both write fine while in a pen, but just trying to get a swatch out with the FWP was much more difficult, whereas Bah Humbug was absolutely ready to get all over this paper.
