Birmingham Pen Co. - Ploughman’s Pebble
(Birmingham Pen Co. - Ploughman’s Pebble, swatched on a Col-O-Ring swatch card (design is a Yoseka Stationery stamp).
Today I’ve another Birmingham Pen Co ink (I ordered a fair amount of samples last time with Penablers), this time in Ploughman’s Pebble. The colour is really interesting, and kind of odd it’s at this specific intersection between brown and a purple-y grey. Even in the photos below - the scans are without colour correction (I never colour correct the scans, so they’re on an equal playing field to all my other swatches). They look drastically different from the colour corrected photos.
I’m not 100% sold on the colour, despite how much I enjoy weird colours with fun properties. That being said, the ink behaved very well and did have a good amount of shading.

Writing Sample
In the writing sample here I’ve got it inked up in my Laban Skeleton with a custom Sankakusen nib grind, done by the wonderful CY.
The ink is very muted, but still very legible. Because of it’s general mutedness, the shading is very prominent because it pools the ink a little bit darker. While I really enjoy that, it’s just not a colour I imagine myself returning to.
Hi! Just a disclaimer that:
This ink sample was purchased through my own funds.

A cool toned, purple-y pink brown.
